Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

My name is Steven Lemire, and for more than forty years I’ve been building, creating, solving problems, and learning from every opportunity life has placed in front of me. Along the way, I’ve discovered that the greatest lessons don’t usually come from textbooks—they come from experience.

I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, the youngest of seven children. Growing up in a busy household taught me the value of hard work, curiosity, and figuring things out for myself. Over the years I’ve worked in many different roles, from paperboy and waiter to hotel management, eventually spending more than three decades in hospitality, catering, and event management.

My career gave me the opportunity to organize everything from intimate weddings to conferences and events for thousands of guests. I had the privilege of helping coordinate events involving remarkable people, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, members of the Japanese Imperial Family, and Mexico’s President Vicente Fox. Those experiences taught me that success is rarely about being the person in the spotlight—it’s about helping others shine.

In 2009, I began a new chapter by creating CasablancaLiving.com in Mérida, Mexico. Restoring a nineteenth-century colonial home became one of the most rewarding projects of my life. It deepened my appreciation for craftsmanship, history, and the stories that old homes quietly carry through the generations.

I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands. Whether it’s woodworking, home improvement, repairs, or tackling a project that most people would avoid, I’ve found satisfaction in learning how things work and making them better. That same curiosity eventually led me to painting. As a self-taught artist, I’ve created more than one hundred paintings, many of which now hang in homes around the world.

Throughout my life I’ve also enjoyed travel, meeting people from different cultures, and discovering new perspectives. Every experience—whether a success or a mistake—has added another lesson worth sharing.

This website and my YouTube channel are where I bring those experiences together.

You won’t find me pretending to have all the answers. Instead, you’ll find stories from real life, practical ideas, creative projects, lessons learned through trial and error, and reflections that I hope encourage you to look at life a little differently.

If something I’ve learned helps make your day easier, gives you a new perspective, inspires your next project, or simply reminds you that we’re all still learning, then I’ve accomplished exactly what I set out to do.

Thank you for stopping by.

I hope you’ll explore, stay awhile, and perhaps discover something that helps make life a little better.
